Feeding You Physical & Spirtual Food
Faith that feeds the spirit, love that feeds the community. Together, we grow, we serve, and we belong.
First Time Here? Welcome!
We are an open and inclusive church in the heart of Newport, serving both our church family
and the wider community. Whether you are looking to join us regularly, speak with a minister,
arrange a wedding, hire the building, or simply find out more, you are very welcome here.
“For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall
many be made righteous.”
Our Mission
Our passion is to share God’s love through both word and action, growing in the knowledge of God through the teachings of the Bible, especially the teachings of Jesus, and through the power of the Holy Spirit. We provide worship that is accessible to everyone. Come as you are, and let God transform your life.
Our Vision
We are a church seeking to reflect the true heart of Jesus Christ by freely sharing what God has given us to feed people both physically and spiritually. We never charge for food or refreshments, because God’s love is freely given and freely received.
Statement of Faith
As a Church we believe in the deity of Jesus Christ in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His ministry and miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His personal return in power and glory.
'Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.'
For more than 363 years, The Church of the Double Portion (previously named Newport
Congregational Church) has been a witness to God’s love, and we pray it continues for many
years to come.
Led by Reverend Mark Evans, our church is here for people at every stage of life. Mark leads with
care and honesty, spending time with the congregation, supporting people through the hard moments
as well as the good ones, and helping anyone who wants to grow in their faith to do so at their
own pace.
Alongside our life of worship, we're committed to serving our local community through practical,
hands-on support. Our Pyle Street Pantry provides food and everyday essentials to individuals and
families across Newport and the Isle of Wight who are facing hardship. Whatever brings you here,
whatever you're looking for, there's a place for you. Discover more below.
Support our life-changing work
Our food projects rely entirely on the generosity of our community and local businesses. Without your support, these vital initiatives could not exist.

Together we grow in faith and friendship.
Church is more than attending a service, it's being part of a community that supports, challenges, and cares for one another.
Now you know how to make the most of your visit.
A building is only ever as warm as the people inside it. Meet the leadership and pastoral care teams who bring this community to life every single week, with genuine care and dedication.
