Fresh fruit and veg for a healthier community
Sharing the Harvest, Reducing Waste, Supporting Our Community
Fresh, free, and straight from local growers to local families, because good food should never go to waste.
Welcome to Livin' on the Veg, a Pyle Street Pantry initiative dedicated to bringing fresh,
nutritious fruit and vegetables to our local community. We believe everyone deserves access to
healthy food, and that good produce should never go to waste. By rescuing surplus fruit and
veg, we reduce food waste while ensuring fresh ingredients reach the families who need them
most.
If you find yourself with more than you can use or sell, simply bring your excess produce to The
Church of the Double Portion. From there, everything is shared with the local community completely
free of charge, helping families eat well while promoting healthier living and reducing waste across
the Island.
Are you a local gardener, allotment owner, farmer, or wholesaler? We are always grateful for donations
of fresh fruit and vegetables. Whether it’s a few spare boxes of tomatoes, a bumper crop of potatoes,
or wholesale surplus, Every donation makes a difference in supporting
your neighbours.
Turning spoil...
…into quality soil.
Now you know where we've come from.
Our history spans more than 365 years of faith and unwavering commitment to this community. That story doesn't just live in the past — come and experience the living continuation of it through worship, music, and fellowship.
