A warm welcome from our minister, Reverend Mark Evans
Leading with faith, community, and open doors at The Church of the Double Portion
Leading our community with a vision for spiritual growth, practical care, and impactful local outreach.
Reverend Mark Evans has been our minister since 2012, guiding our church family through our
transition from Newport Congregational Church. Before moving to the Island, Mark studied at
Mansfield College, Oxford, and worked in London for seven years. Since arriving, he has
overseen major milestones, including the completion of our chapel building project and the
life-changing growth of our food ministries.
As the visionary founder behind The Pyle Street Pantry, Mark works closely with our team, local
Newport leaders, and the Wight Church Network to tackle food poverty across the Island. Outside
of ministry, Mark is married to Denise, they have a son, Samuel, and he is a keen sports fan who
faithfully supports Watford FC.
Connect With Mark
Whether you want to learn more about our Sunday services, need a listening ear, or want to get involved
with our community work, Mark’s doors are always open.
Want to get in touch? Feel free to say hello to Mark during pantry hours, join us for a church service,
or reach out at minister.dpciow@gmail.com.
Mark's calling is rooted in service and sacrifice.
Members of this very church gave everything during the war so that future generations could live in peace. Take a moment to honour their memory, and all those who served, and the foundation of faith they built.
